According to About.com, Tamzin has joined the cast of Jane Eyre (with Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender). I have been following this movie for a while and have never seen her name attached until now. They have begun filming (or will this week), so maybe there is truth in it. I hope so because Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books!
Edit - ComingSoon.net also says the same thing! I am so excited. The movie is by Focus Features and the list Pride & Prejudice beside Tamzin’s name. I’m not sure what character she is playing.
Joining Wasikowska and Fassbender in the film are Sally Hawkins, Judi Dench, Tamzin Merchant, and Imogen Poots. Jamie Bell, who co-starred alongside Wasikowska in Defiance, has also signed on to the cast. Moira Buffini adapted the screenplay.

I’ve been looking, but I can only think of a few she might play… I’m sure it’ll be released soon!

Blanche Ingram maybe? There aren’t a lot of young adult female parts besides Jane.

Thanks, I can’t wait to update (when I get to school)…
Pssssst… Tamzin is awesome in the first two episodes!

The only character I can envision Tamzin playing is that of Rosamond Oliver, the young heiress and love interest of St. John, Jane’s ambitious cousin:
“A vision, as it seemed to me, had risen [...], a form clad in pure white—a youthful, graceful form: full, yet fine in contour; and when [...] it lifted up its head, and threw back a long veil, there bloomed under his glance a face of perfect beauty. Perfect beauty is a strong expression; but I do not retrace or qualify it: as sweet features as ever the temperate clime of Albion moulded; as pure hues of rose and lily as ever her humid gales and vapoury skies generated and screened, justified, in this instance, the term. No charm was wanting, no defect was perceptible; the young girl had regular and delicate lineaments; eyes shaped and coloured as we see them in lovely pictures, large, and dark, and full; the long and shadowy eyelash which encircles a fine eye with so soft a fascination; the pencilled brow which gives such clearness; the white smooth forehead, which adds such repose to the livelier beauties of tint and ray; the cheek oval, fresh, and smooth; the lips, fresh too, ruddy, healthy, sweetly formed; the even and gleaming teeth without flaw; the small dimpled chin; the ornament of rich, plenteous tresses—all advantages, in short, which, combined, realise the ideal of beauty, were fully hers.”
Nonetheless, I’m not sure yet what to think of this production – I admired Mia as Alice but I can’t really see her as Jane as far as appearance goes. The same applies for Micheal Fassbender who is – in my eyes at least – far too young and handsome to play “Vulcan-like” and moody Rochester.
Or maybe I’m just biased since I adore the 2006 BBC version with Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens in the leading roles…
Anyway, I’m looking forward to see Tamzin in a new period movie, whoever she may be playing!

oh my God, tamzin in Jane Eyre! I can’t wait, I love the book

I thought Imogen Poots would play Rosamund, but now that two more young actresses have joined who sound like they could fill the role, I’m wondering who each of them will play!
Blanche is described to be dark (despite her name)… but I was wondering if Tamzin might play one of St. John’s sisters. I can see her as one of them or Rosamund.

Yes, you are quite right, Imogen does look more like the “perfect beauty” as described in the book.
Tamzin as one of St. John’s sisters – why didn’t I think of that? But I really can’t decide between Mary and Diana…
But when it comes to Blanche Ingram, Tamzin looks far too innocent and nice to play such an arrogant and presumptuous character – and I would like to see a dark Blanche, too.
I begin looking forward to this production…

I personally think Tamzin has a kind, nice quality to her appearance that makes her fit (to me) either Diana or Mary (I forget her name). Holliday Grainger has a smug look that makes me think of Blanche (really liked her in Robin Hood and Merlin!). As for Imogen, I see her as pretty Rosamund. That’s my theory. Of course they are all pretty, up-and-coming actresses whose roles in this could be anything.

I am happy for Tamzin! Looking forward for more info about the movie.

Actually yes I agree with you, and I didn’t realise Holliday Grainger was in it! I’m very excited for this project now, I really like the cast. Well I’m not sure about the man playing Mr Rochester, but he could surprise me.
